Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted an Express Entry draw on 12 July, inviting 3,800 candidates. The cut-off CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System Score) for this draw was 375. It was the 258th Express Entry draw since its start in January 2015, and was specific to candidates who have proficiency in French language.
In the draw, candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 375 or above were invited to apply for permanent residency. The CRS is a points-based selection system used by the government of Canada to assess and score candidates’ profiles in the pool. The CRS takes into consideration various factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and other criteria.
Candidates with a minimum score of 7 in all language abilities were invited to this category-based draw. The low cut-off CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System Score) for this new draw demonstrates that knowing French improves your chances of being asked to apply through Express Entry.
Express Entry candidates may be invited to one of the six categories listed below in 2023:
Healthcare occupations
STEM professions
Trade occupations
Transportation occupations
Agriculture and agri-food occupations

Because there is no published timetable for future Express Entry draws, it is not possible to predict when the Express Entry draw will take place. However, IRCC has always held Express Entry draws on Wednesdays every two weeks. However, Express Entry draws can and do occur on other days of the week, and there may be a longer or shorter interval between one Express Entry draw and the next.

Express Entry is an electronic selection system used by the Federal as well as Provincial governments of Canada [to select], as well as designated Canadian employers [to nominate] candidates for Canadian permanent residence under three of its popular economic [skilled] immigration programs:
Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC),
Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC),
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidates eligible for any of the above programs are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the Express Entry Pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French, etc. And, based on scores, candidates are periodically invited (or nominated) for permanent residence.
